I work with various types of clients from all economic backgrounds. In recent years, I have found myself focusing on high-net-worth families, corporate officers with stock and equity positions (such as options), business owners, and educators.
I prioritize our relationship rather than the assets a potential client possesses. Understanding what you hope to accomplish from a financial standpoint early on is critical. I will also take into consideration your background, prior investing experience, debt issues, and other specific criteria.
Many people are challenged financially at some point during their lives – high debt levels, loss of job, divorce, or whatever the case may be, can misrepresent a person’s true character. That same person may inherit a $3 million property or a $2 million life insurance policy from a relative. So, someone’s financial status can change rapidly within years or even months. However, to be in a position to help you when these types of events occur, we need an established relationship and earned trust.
When taking the steps to build our relationship, I first make efforts to align your goals and portfolio with the changing dynamics of your life and the markets. At a certain point, we must take a deep dive into your financial details – this is critical to the success of any long-term relationship. However, I am sensitive to any clients who are hesitant to disclose detailed data and highly personal information.
We proceed with the relationship at a pace comfortable to clients in regards to their personality, goals, and time horizon. I attempt to guide you to be anticipatory of your needs as changes in your life occur. In the case of an unforeseen issue, I work with you to make the best possible decision – even when there seems to be no good choices.
Through periodic communication, I hope to enhance our relationship over time. While I prefer face-to-face meetings, I am also available to meet with clients via Zoom or by phone. As technology continues to rapidly evolve, communication can be a challenge. I try to blend traditional forms of communication with newer technologies as much as possible in an attempt to address client needs and goals.
The meeting agenda and schedule is designed individually around each client’s needs. Some meetings are structured with stringent time standards. Others are designed to address broad issues that flow with discussion. Regardless, my goal is to have a pre-arranged agenda ready for our meeting.
